	Robert "Lloyd" Middleton, 95, passed away at 2:05 pm Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Pinckneyville Community Hospital Skilled Care Unit in Pinckneyville.  
	Mr. Middleton was born on September 28, 1909, in Sandoval, Ill. to Dan and Minnie (Wehrheim) Middleton. He was united in marriage to Florence Hales on December 18, 1937, in St. Louis, Mo. and she preceded him in death on October 22, 2001.
	Mr. Middleton was an attorney in private practice for 46 years. He graduated from Benton College of Law, St. Louis, Mo., in 1936. He practiced law in St. Louis and East St. Louis until 1949 when he and his family moved to Pinckneyville. Lloyd practiced law in Pinckneyville until his retirement in 1982.
	Lloyd was active in Republican politics for many years and was elected Perry County States Attorney from 1952 to1960 and again from 1976 to 1980. He served as President of the Illinois States Attorneys' Association during his second term. 
	Mr. Middleton was a member of the Illinois Bar Association for 62 years and had served on the Association's Disciplinary Committee. 
	Lloyd is survived by two daughters, Mary Roe and her husband Dr. Charles "Bill" of Pinckneyville, Peg Pursell and her husband Ed of Du Quoin, two sons, Daniel Middleton and his wife Mary Elaine of Millstadt, Ill., and James Middleton and his wife Annetta of Coffeen, Ill., 15 grandchildren, Rick Hicks of Florissant, Mo., Rob Hicks (Trish) of Trinity, Fla., Margot Middleton Holt (Dennis) of Highland, Ill., Michelle Middleton Hensel (Rick) of Millstadt, Ill., Melissa Middleton Stump (Matt) of Whitestown, Ind., Dr. David Roe (Lauri) of Cornelius, N.C., Sarah Roe Sise (Dan) of St. Louis, Mo., Julie Roe of Indianapolis, Ind., Andrea Middleton Restoff (Danny) of Tamaroa, Jimmy Middleton of Carbondale, Anthony, Aaron and Ameelya Kuhl of Coffeen, Ill., Eddie Pursell and fiance Pam Beard of Du Quoin and Douglas Pursell and fiance Amanda Ritter of Du Quoin; and 13 great-grandchildren, Shane Hicks, Madison, Morgan, Camden and Mackenzie Roe, Maggie and Julia Sise, Tonya, Nicole and Adam Holt, Cole and Cailyn Hensel and Ainsley Stump.
	His parents, his wife, Florence, a daughter, Nancy and her husband, Richard Hicks, preceded Lloyd in death.  
	Services will be held at St. Brunos Catholic Church in Pinckneyville, Saturday, April 9, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Brian Barker officiating. Interment will be in the St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday evening and again Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville, IL.  
	Memorials may be made to St. Brunos School Endowment Fund or to a charity
of the donor's choice.
